I read something by him in A.P. Lit. but I can't remember what it was... something to do with an abandoned village? Anywho, I just thought it was a sort of far out and sad. Reminds me of Ariel Dorfman, or Piglia if you've heard of those guys. Um, at least I think that was Neruda. Did he do that poem "The Word"?

yup. but you need to read his love sonnets and other poems, you might like them better. try w.s. merwin's translation of 'tonight i can write,' for example. the language is absolutely beautiful. :D
